Dr. Stephen Sorenson, the Medical Director of Vein Specialists of Illinois, has 18 years of clinical experience treating vein disease and has performed in excess of 30,000 patient treatments.

Dr. Sorenson is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.

In addition to these qualifications, Dr. Sorenson is both a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

Dr. Sorenson’s experience is rewarded by the large number of patients referred to him by prior patients and primary care physicians. Over the years, many of Dr. Sorenson’s referring physicians have also become patients.

Dr. Sorenson’s mission is to provide each patient with a comfortable, respectful experience when in our care, as well as delivering the best possible outcome from their treatment. Our office encompasses a comprehensive, minimally invasive approach to varicose vein care. Vein care treatments do not require hospitalization or surgery, all procedures are performed on an outpatient basis and normal activity can be resumed immediately after treatment.

Spider veins, or telangiectasia, can be present with or without varicose veins. Spider veins are often hereditary.

Varicose veins are enlarged and often painful blood vessels that do not discriminate between men or women, young adults or old.
